NOVEMBER 2008

Dear Pin Oak MS Parents,

Although Hurricane Ike brought many difficulties to our daily lives, one of the positive aspects was that it brought us closer together as a community in many ways. If you are like me, it made me pause and give thanks for what I had and for recognizing what was really important. Although there will be no additional days or time added to the school schedule, our faculty has been diligently working to ensure that our sons and daughters are solidly back on track and making up the material they missed.

As we move forward into fall and the holidays, there are many events happening on our Campus so please be sure to check the calendar on the school website (pinoak.us) and your student's cluster blogs for ongoing information. Our fall event, 'Evening with the Stars', will be held on Friday, November 14 from 6-8 pm. You won't want to miss a delicious spaghetti dinner wile watching the talent showcase of our Fine Arts students. Magnet Week is another important event on our campus, which is to be held during the week of December 8-12. It is always wonderful to have our students and parents serve as guides for the tours since you are the school's best ambassadors.

I invite all of our parents and faculty to join us at our monthly PTO meetings which are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6pm in the school library. If any of our parents can assist our school with building business and community partnerships, I welcome you to email me at Ann Nichols or Rita Graves to give us your input and ideas. As you can see, our website has a new look and is up and running.

Thanks to our many parents who have joined the PTO this year and to those who have volunteered to work on the various commitees and events at our school. Your involvement is much appreciated!
