Beautification (2nd VP)
The Beautification committee is responsible for the planning and implementation of projects throughout the year that result in the improvement of the interior and exterior appearance of the school campus.

Box Tops For Education
(3rd VP)
Clip Box Tops from hundreds of your favorite General Mills products and send them in to the PTO Box Tops committee.  Box Tops can be found on breakfast cereals, refrigerated and dairy products, meals, side dishes, frozen foods, snacks, and Betty Crocker and Bisquick baking products. Each Box Top is worth 10¢ to POMS.  It is our goal to raise $500 this year.  A collection box has been placed in the front office.  Please write your student’s name on each set of box tops submitted. A drawing will be held and a prize awarded each quarter by the Box Tops committee. Directory / Directory Ad Sales
(1st VP)
The Directory committee is responsible for producing a student directory at the lowest possible cost and as early in the school year as possible.  The committee also sells directory advertising to defray some of the cost of the student directory.

Eighth Grade Promotion / Activities
(2nd VP)
The Eighth Grade Activities committee is responsible for planning special events at the end of the school year for the eighth graders. The committee also plans a yearbook signing party and the eighth grade promotion and awards ceremony.

Fun Foods Friday

This popular "FUNdraiser" happens every Friday at dismissal when we sell the kids' favorite snack foods, such as pizza-by-the-slice, smoothies, soda, and the 3 C's (cookies, candy, and chips).

Join in the fun and frenzy of "Fun Foods Friday" by emailing Barbara Bronstein at bbronstein@houston.rr.com to give her your commitment for one or more Fridays. Specify the date or dates you prefer, so she can put you on the schedule and send you an email reminder.  Newcomers and anyone with limited time are especially welcome.


Grocery Store Donations
(3rd VP)
The Grocery Store Donations committee coordinates annual fundraising activity. Contact Juliet Hubbel for more information.

Randall's: Please use POMS #10955 on you Remarkable card as your charity of choice.  POMS PTO will get a percentage of your spending.

Kroger:
Every time you shop at Kroger, have the cashier scan your POMS frequent shopper card. Kroger keeps track of the usage and then pays POMS a percentage of those sales. Stop by the office and pick up a Kroger Frequent Shopper card. 

Rice Epicurean:
POMS PTO is registered in the Rice Epicurean Markets Epoints program so remember to donate your Rice Epicurean Markets Epoints to Pin Oak MS PTO. 

Central Market:
If you are a Central Market shopper, stop by the office and pick up your Central Market Foodie Card. 

Washington Mutual:
Every time you use your WM Visa check card, POMS accumulates points which are then turned into cash and sent to the school at the end of the year.

Target VISA card:
Please call 1-888-755-5856 to list POMS PTO as your charity of choice on your Target VISA card.

Hospitality (2nd VP)
Organizes and serves refreshments at school functions. If you are interested in working on the Hospitality committee, please contact Sharon D. Isaac or Felisha Hines.

Membership (1st VP)
Base PTO membership dues are $15 per school year.  Additional levels of giving are recognized with corresponding membership benefits.  PTO membership giving levels are Platinum Charger ($500 and above), Golden Charger ($250-$499), Silver Charger ($100-$249), Bronze Charger ($50-$99), and Polo Charger ($15-$49).

The membership table at Charger Camp is usually the first stop for new POMS parents.  The annual membership drive kicks off at Charger Camp in August and ends on November 1st. Many corporations match the gifts their employees make.  Before submitting a matching gift form, please check your company’s criteria to be sure it will match a gift to Pin Oak Middle School PTO.  Contact the Membership Chair, Liz Pierre Lavergne if you have any questions.  Thank you for your interest and support.

Open House (2nd VP)
Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the PTO presence at school Open House event. At the annual Open House parents have the opportunity to visit their child’s teachers and classrooms. In addition, parents can register to work as a Pin Oak school volunteer, purchase an ad or message gram in the school directory, and join the PTO.



Orientation (1st VP)
Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the PTO presence at new student orientation events (usually 6th grade orientation in May and Charger Camp in August).

Charger Camp is held in early August for all new and returning POMS students. Students receive their class schedules, lockers and combinations, textbooks and covers, and have their school ID cards made for the new school year. Parents can also purchase school uniform shirts and other items from the school store.  Charger Camp is a very important event that prepares students for a productive first day of school.

6th Grade Orientation is held in mid-May for all new incoming 6th grade students. Students participate in a variety of key activities.  Parents can purchase school uniform shirts and other items from the school store.  Parents can also purchase books from the required summer reading list.

Prospective Student/Magnet Week (3rd VP)
HISD Magnet School Awareness Week is usually held during the first week of November. During this week, POMS conducts school tours for prospective students and their parents. The PTO provides volunteers to assist with tours and other planned activities. For more information contact Ann Eisner.



Publicity (1st VP)
Submits articles and photographs of interest to newspapers and other media. Coordinates with school personnel to accomplish these goals. for more information contact Alice Muessig.

School Store (3rd VP)
Maintains school store through staffing volunteers and stocking supplies.

The school store is located next to the gymnasium at the end of the long hall. The store is open from 7:45 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. before school and 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. after school. As always, the hours are contingent upon the availability of parent volunteers to work.  All profits from the store go directly back into the school, funding various projects in the PTO. The prices are comparable to regular discount store prices with the added advantage of convenience and availability.

Spring Event (3rd VP)
Plans and coordinates all aspects of the major PTO fundraising event for the spring semester.


Staff Appreciation (2nd VP)

Plans special events throughout the year for teachers and staff, including luncheons.

PTO Volunteer Coordinator, PVC (1st VP)
The PVC is primarily responsible for recruiting committee volunteers and will maintain a database of potential volunteers and their talents (e.g. profession, interests, etc.) to provide to all committees chairs.

House Representatives (PVC)
House Reps serve as the liaison between the teachers and the PTO.  They are responsible for cultivating parent involvement at the school.  House Reps must have high visibility on campus.
