Volunteer Opportunities
Pin Oak Middle School has many opportunities to get involved and support your child's school. Opportunities range from one time events to ongoing and regular shifts. Some volunteer jobs, such as baking cookies, can be completed at home. Others take place at school. Many special events are on nights and weekends and welcome working parents to get involved. Whatever amount of time you have to give, we're delighted to put you to work. Please contact Volunteer coordinator Maria Gomez @ mgomezj@aol.com for information about current openings and needs.
Current volunteer opportunities include:
Bellaire Fun Run. This special community event on September 17th is also a fundraiser for POMS. Please contact Angie Sigmon if you can help by emailing asigmon@sbcglobal.net.
Fall Book Fair: As part of Teen Read Week, Pin Oak will host a fall book fair October 17-21 in the Pin Oak library. Volunteers are needed to man cash registers and assist students and parents in making selections. Some shifts are available before or after school; others are during the day. This year's theme is "Picture It". Please contact Maria Gomez if you can help by emailing mgomezj@aol.com.
Magnet Week: Pin Oak will host tours of the campus during Magnet Week, November 7-11. You can help by being a tour guide. Tours are during the day, and at least one evening for Magnet Night. If you would like to help showcase Pin Oak to prospective parents, please contact Kristin Dawson or Kathy Vingoe by emailing kmd@jamesdawsondesign.com or kathyvingoe@yahoo.com.
Hospitality Commitee: If you love to bake, please help out with hospitality. This committee provides food for special Pin Oak events throughout the year. You can also help by manning the snack table at some of these events. For ways in which you can help, please contact Mary Capistran by emailing marycap@sbcglobal.net.
Teacher Appreciation: At Pin Oak, we love our teachers! And we like to show them that love by hosting ongoing teacher appreciation events. If you like to bake or cook or have clever and creative ideas for teacher appreciation, the committee can use your help. Please contact Kathryn Berg or Tammy Thompson by emailing kapberg@aol.com or tammy@thompsonweb.usa.
Beautification Committee: If you're a gardener and you love to get your hands dirty, contact Angela Roth for way in which you can help make our campus beautiful. You can email Angela at chrisangelaroth@sbcglobal.net.
8th grade promotion: Chairs Liz McGuffee and Mimi Branham need help with the slew of fun events and activities planned for our 8th graders, primarily towards the end of the year. Parents are needed to help plan, promote, staff and chaperone events. If you'd like to be involved in these exciting and memorable activities, please email them at lizmcguffee@yahoo.com or mimibranham@gmail.com.
